SON / ULTIMA
SON är Wolf von Langas mest ikoniska modell och något av en modern klassiker. Man använder sig här av en tvåvägs konstruktion där man kombinerar sitt eget elektromagnetiska mellanregister/baselement (field coil) med en dipol-diskant (AMT) och en passiv radiator på baksidan av kabinettet.
Med hög känslighet och ett brett frekvensomfång (20 – 25.000 Hz) så får du en lättdriven och komplett högtalare i ett kompakt format i valfri finish.
ULTIMA är en vidareutveckling av SON med högre kvalitet på kabinettet, ännu bättre komponenter i delningsfiltret (Duelund kondensatorer) och uppgraderad strömförsörjning (PSU) till field coil elementet. Även field coil elementet är optimerat och förbättrat med ett nytt chassi m.m.

My time with the WVL speakers was both illuminating and musically rewarding. Illuminating, in terms of what’s possible with a physically small loudspeaker, especially when it comes to the reproduction of scale. Musically rewarding in that at no point was my choice of recordings determined by the capabilities of the transducer.

SON
The WVL SONs offer a variety of options for tuning them to your room. The variable current field-coil driver technology enables dialing in their sound to your own listening preferences. Finish, build quality, and attention to detail are top-notch. Capable of handling low and high wattage amplifiers, the SONs will reward the quality of the equipment you mate with them. For those unable to accommodate large floor standers or who have small to midsize rooms, I can easily suggest considering the SONs with either of the Lamm amps used for this review. Value is not allowed into my sonic assessments, but reality does not let value escape; most of us have budgets. Coupled with my sonic critique in absolute terms, I find the WVL SONs, at $17,995 USD, a compelling value for small-sized full-range audiophile loudspeakers. Von Langa has a winner here; I encourage you to audition the SONs for yourself.
